The 750,000 sq. ft., 25-floor outpatient facility in Manhattan’s Upper East Side serves as a model for modern cancer care. MSK & ICRAVE explored how design and technology enhance experiences for patients, families, and caregivers. Treating 1,300 patients daily, the facility’s personalized RTLS devices allow patients to move freely, creating flexibility and choice during treatment. ICRAVE designed patient “neighborhoods” — “Restoration,” “Recreation,” and “Activation” spaces — to support solitude, group fitness, or social activities. Innovations include collaborative staff spaces, circadian lighting for nurses, and a streamlined lobby check-in experience.
